"It helps keep me going, pretty much,” says Tara McNamara, talking about her experience writing with Voices from Inside. McNamara started out as a VFI participant and now is a workshop facilitator. On Sunday, February 7, eight members of VFI read their poems, essays, and insights at Sh'ma Koleinu: Here Our Voices, an event sponsored by the Jewish social-activist group Bend the Arc. Also present was Massachusetts State Senator James B. Eldridge (D-Acton), who is sponsoring a bill to revise mandatory minimum sentencing and to support funding for drug treatment and job retraining.
